Barn Shawls/ Missouri-Made Mondays

I'm beginning a new feature on Stephanie's Stuff called Missouri-Made Mondays. Featured here will be Hand Made items made by myself or a member of my Etsy shop,
  Katy Trail Creations.

Waiting for the Autumn and Winter chill to arrive here in Central Missouri. It hasn't happened yet, but it will. One item I crochet has done pretty well in the shop.
Homespun Yarn by Lion Brand has a super soft texture and appearance that has made these shawls irresistable both online and at craft shows. I can't tell you how many folks have to stop and feel these shawls while on display.
This is the latest version done in 'Clouds' with painterly colors of medium and dark gray. Soft and thick yarn will keep you cozy on those quickly approaching Autumn evenings.

A helpful hint in working with this style of yarn:
This sort of yarn you have to really 'feel' the stitches. It will blend together flawlessly. If you aren't experienced with this technique, try a few practice swatches and use a stitch you are very familiar with before starting a major project. The results will be much nicer.

Give me a shout out from your 'made' location!

Purple Haze/ Tasty Thursday

Tasty Thursday

In preparing a favorite meal last night, I wanted a little more color than the typical green and orange peppers. Luckily our garden has just the thing.

Notice the inside of that pepper is white. Pretty cool. And it's a nice sweet flavor. No flames for your mouth.

Another successful evening meal with some Black Beans in the corner bowl.
And remember,
Cooking is Love made Visible.
Happy Thursday!!

Then There's This /Tasty Thursday

Tasty Thursday

Breakfast one day last week apparently was pretty good when Ron sent me a photo of it before finishing it off.
Gluten Free Cinnamon Raisin Bread conformed to French Toast last week. This is before syrup and butter were added. But guess what. It's not French.

What I'd like to do is share a list of French Cuisine I'd like to make in the future.
Here's a beginning list.

Crème brûlée
Éclair(These first 2 speak on their own)
Macaron (not to be confused with Macaroon)
Ratatouille (I hope you know what this is)
Hachis Parmentier (French Shepherds Pie)
Gigot D Agneau Pleureur
(translation: Lamb cooked over potatoes)
Tartiflette (Potatoes, bacon, melted cheese, onion. Enough said)
Quiche Lorraine (the French like bacon)
For the record, we've already made Cordon Bleu. No pictures. sorry.

Rachel's Email Salsa/Tasty Thursday

My daughters work in the adult world. Not at home all day with under age 7er's. And with that comes adult meetings where they eat adult foods. Not fish sticks, chicken nuggets and French fries. Thank the Lord! Because they bring home these wonderful recipes. So of course we make them.

For Tasty Thursday, I'm showing you one of the salsas we recently acquired and made. I even send a picture to my niece. She is known to eat Just One black eyed pea on New Years Day for her good luck. I'm hoping this will get her past the "one". You actually eat chips with this Evette!

Two versions. 1 with flash and one without.
Here's the email:

Lime Pickles/Tasty Thursday

This last weekend when all of Sedalia turned out for the Missouri State Fair,
including my daughter who brought me some of this,

I was here at home making a 3-day batch of
Lime Pickles.
Now you can use the recipe on the back of this package.
And I'm sure it's a good one.
But,
I have been blessed to have Grandma Hunter's recipe.
So time for some old-fashioned goodness on this Tasty Thursday.
Here's the Day 2 Soak.
And, yes, I had Plenty of cucumbers from my own garden.
Eleven pints to be exact.
With more to come,
I will definitely be in a Pickle.
Not the greatest joke, sorry.

Katy Perry Likes Gluten Free/Tasty Thursday

We went to a concert in Kansas City last year to see Katy Perry. On stage she brought out the all time fave of that city, Minsky's Pizza. She chose an unsuspecting person from the audience and handed the little golden box to them and made a big production about it.  Little did the Minsky's folks know though that she is gluten intolerant.
Lucky for us, We Know they actually have  great G-free pizza.

Here's a portion after the hubster and daughter dived in.

Here's what my youngest daughter and I had in the 'not so g-free' version.
They really have the best pizza in Kansas City.
Highly recommended on this Tasty Thursday post!!
Sorry you lost out Katy :(

The Art of the Note Tuck/ Tasty Thursday

I was beeboppin' along last weekend stuffing pickles in jars from our garden.........
I'm not known for a prettily packed jar of pickles just for the record.

Had them in the boiling water bath to seal up........

They did turn out pretty after all.

Sweet Pickles. Ready to eat in 4 to 6 weeks.

And in the midst of all that canning, I found a little gem of a note, tucked away for a future smile.
Translation: "I believe in you Santa, but my friend Dunken does not."
Dunken, you are pretty well on the Coal list for Christmas.
Sorry guy!
Dedicating this Tasty Thursday to my youngest daughter :)
