Autumn Greetings/ Missouri-Made Mondays

Craft Booth September 17, 2016
I blogged a little about the Green Ridge Park Day on my other blog's regular Sunday Sampler feature yesterday.
But I didn't share what lovely treasures my mother surprised me with.
It's inside the bag of course.
These were quite the bargain and mother never let's those pass her by.
Kerchiefs for $1 apiece, already hemmed and ready for use.
The one on the left is a medallion pattern that resembles a giant chrysanthemum.
The right kerchief is a Dresden Plate in lovely autumn colors.
I have a plan to alter these.....just a little.
First I'll be cutting them into triangles.
After hemming the cut edge, I'll add some trim.....

In the form of crochet with ties.
Too much wind or sun is hard on the hair. These darling hair accessories keep it in check and are very pretty on little girls in their Sunday best.
Hope you'll be back again for another Missouri-Made Monday!

How Do You Do It?

Keeping an even keel while caring for 9 children is somewhat of a curiosity to some. So what do I do in my down time to remain sane?

Everyone who knows me personally knows I've recently been blessed with a house addition and am even more blessed with a room dedicated to my hobbies, crochet/sewing/quilting. What would I do without my time to be creative?

Another way to keep it real is to spend time gardening. Somehow, with my back yard still in mud pit mode, I managed (with my hubby's help) to put in a raised bed garden. Love my vegies and hoping for a good year since my neighbor so generously donated some of his fertile farm soil to our new garden spot. He's farmer 3 days a week and neighbor 4 days. He and his Mrs. have been living this arrangement for nearly 10 years. I'm getting off track here so on to the sanity savers.

Spending time with my family is also one of the best ways I keep the brain in lower altitudes. I have some of the greatest relatives on the planet. Just sayin. We have awesome get-togethers just bringing pot luck items and shooting the sh*t. We are probably pretty red-neck to most, but we don't judge and most always get along with anyone. Our White Elephant Family Christmas parties are awesome and the reunions ain't bad either. And my husband and daughters are top of the list in keeping me steady. Wouldn't know what to do without them.

My list could go on as I have a multitude of ways I enjoy my free time. Honestly, I have to say my job isn't really that stressful anyway. Who else gets paid to play all day and cuddle babies? They aren't critics of my banjo playin either :)

Oh wait, I guess I should mention that banjo is my ultimate weapon against insanity.

Stuff Getting Prepped

Time to move away from politics and back to our Etsy shop.

This soft, white kerchief/headscarf will soon be featured via one of my daughters or (crossing my fingers)one of my nieces.

One of my Softball night completions.

This is to show the yarn producers that I have found them out!
Yes you have shrunk the size of your yarn skeins and I'm onto you......
I will find a solution FYI.

Bought a pattern for this from Etsy. Its originally for a necklace. I made an ankle bracelet. I love it! (My daughter thinks I'm becoming a hippy. NOT!) My personal "first" Etsy purchase. Was a very pleasant shopping experience. Got to shop from home, got my purchase in less than 30 minutes, and met the shop owner via messaging. What more could you ask for????
( I wish every product could be emailed!! lol)

The 2 photos above are earrings created by my daughter, Kirsten. She has great fashion sense!!
Hope to have these items available soon in the shop.
Otherwise, you'll see them at one of our craft booths this fall.

Windsor Septemberfest 2011

The Windsor, Missouri Septemberfest was a Hot one. But the town turned out for the celebration nonetheless. Mom & I arrived in plenty of time to set up
Hanging stuff

Preserved stuff

Other varieties of stuff

The Parade included this old time fire truck

My dad had a Farmall similar to this one way back when.
Mother had no love lost on this piece of the 'family farm'.
(she informed me of this today :)
I personally love the Americana of an old Missouri downtown.

And the sense of humor you won't find anyplace else.

Windsor Craft Show

Ron & I arrived Saturday with lunch for Mom & Kirsten at Windsor, Missouri.
Our table was set up on the South side of Main Street in front of an unused building.
It had apparently not been open for a year; Ill health of the owners according to the locals.
I am So-o-o proud of my Kirsten. She has found a niche & is thoroughly enjoying her new
venture as an entrepreneur. She can tell you what each of her stones are and some information
about where they are found, etc. (I do good to remember my colors. :) too many years
with 2 year olds)

Closer view of bracelets
My stack of crocheted dishcloths

Some coasters I threw together
Popular items -- Jams & jellies & potholders
Mom's preserves are Wonderful!
Kitchen towels by Mom
Sweatshirts by Mom not too popular until it gets much cooler.
Then watch out! They are in big demand.
Crisis of the day was when the vendor next to ours was
life-flighted to St. Lukes in KC. Believe she was having heart
issues. Helped pack up her things with an official of
the Windsor Septemberfest. Our prayers are with her.
Here is our 'stuff'. We had a really nice spot with awning above.
Didn't have to bring an umbrella and no sunburn worries.
Couldn't have been better!
(Unless we sold out.)
