Dinner for Two / Tasty Thursday

It's pretty awesome when you don't feel like cooking and you know you don't need to go out to eat. No one else wants your sneezes. So to the rescue was the hubby. Smothered Steak is on the menu this Tasty Thursday.
Still have some of these from the garden.
After cleaning them up and joining them with the other vegies.....
You simply add the steak to the pan with some butter n oil.
Simmer for around 5 minutes on each side.
Finish off by
topping them with this rainbow of nutrition and simmer to the desired consistency.
In my opinion, I should have chopped up More vegies.

In The Round/ Missouri-Made Mondays

Thinking of a quick gift idea? Many times we think of bath items for someone. I mean, you never have enough items for you skin care, right??
Paired with a special scented soap, bath salts/bombs and lotion, this creates a very nice basket combination.
A new baby will love the tag-free softness.
Pampering never felt so good!

These also work great
*as a drink coaster
* displayed in a dish on your counter
*as teether biscuits
*and are wonderful for little hands in helping with dishes.

More colors will be coming soon to Katy Trail Creations on Etsy!
Check back each Monday for more Missouri-Made items.

I Do Not CArrOT All/Tasty Thursday

One item that has been illusive on our store shelves is tomato soup. Let me clarify.....Gluten free tomato soup. And once we found a decent brand(in another town), it was high time we used up a pepper or two from my latest harvest for a family favorite side dish. This one is perfect for the latest round of extra warm weather we've been having.
Carrot Salad or Penny Salad. Whichever you prefer to call it is the one dish I haven't cooked up in the years we've had to avoid gluten. Until now.
And it was lookin' purty good.
And this happened.
The green of these flowerets stared back at me.
So in they went. The whole bag.
New recipe name suggestions??

Basket Making/ Missouri-Made Monday

If you need a way to store your stuff in something that goes with your decor, you may consider a fabric basket. The sizes, colors and themes are pretty much endless. I've sold a few....

This Small version was created with upcycled jeans and leftover fabric from my stash.

This one may return in a future time. I still have some of this fabric :)

This one went to the daughter's apartment and will be a mail catch all.
Maybe keys too.

And sometime today, this one will be available in the store.

Basket storage is great for:
 toddler sorting toys,
napkins at the dining table,
bathroom and toiletry items,
sewing/craft catch-all,
baby care items
house-warming gift container,
candy dish for upcoming holidays,
 and so much more.

You Don't Know Jack/Tasty Thursday

Friday night we began our Labor Day Weekend with a drive to Lawrence, Kansas to pick up one daughter and brought the other one along. As with any longish road trip, food has to be in the plan. Especially when the trip has to start after 5:30 pm.
Our choice in Overland Park, Kansas was
Fiorella's Jack Stack Barbecue.

I love how I have all 3 of them in this shot with the mirror helping me out.
So great seating is a plus for them to begin with.
The Gluten Free option Rachel shared with her dad was called The Round Up.
Sampling of Sliced Beef, Pork, Ham, and Pork Spare Ribs.
Sides of Cheesy Corn and Baked Beans.
Definitely enough to share.
Kirsten picked out the Arkansas Topper after much deliberation.
"Boneless chicken breast topped with barbecue sauce, cheddar and jack cheese, and your choice of barbecue meat." straight from the menu.
No complaints and the fries were a huge score!
This comes from my Hamburger connoisseur.

My dinner pick was something I wouldn't normally choose.
I like a little spice and this one fit the bill pretty good. Not too hot but definitely had a bit of a kick. And you never go wrong with bacon. Just my opinion.
"Pepper jack cheese, bacon and side of chipotle ranch."
Served on a whole wheat bun but I mainly ate the meat portion with the fries and was totally satisfied.
Hunger. Gone.
This is not a fly-by BBQ joint. It's a firmly established part of Kansas City Barbecue tradition having been around since 1957.
If you haven't tried Kansas City Barbecue,
You Don't Know Jack!

Saucy Angle/ Tasty Thursday

Grocery night is a pain when you're on a time restraint.
Mother wanted to deliver a package to me and I needed to beat the sunset home.
(she doesn't like driving at night anymore)
More on the package next week.
But I planned ahead this week and only had to bake the chicken strips, microwave the pre-baked potatoes and toss the salad.
The toppings are the topic of this Tasty Thursday
We really love this sweet chili sauce on our chicken. It would be great on wontons, crab rangoon or egg rolls.   It has just a little bite.
Define "little" you may ask.
You won't need sour cream to sooth your palette.
You won't drink more water or wine.
But don't feed it to your children.
They will feel the heat.

The fringe benefit here is it's gluten free.
Gluten-free makes 1/2 the household pretty happy.

Another Gluten-free Sauce I'm sharing is....
You probably can't tell but the bottle is Empty.
I didn't forget to buy more. Our Walmart didn't have anymore.
My mission:
Let the HomeTown grocer know I need it ordered ASAP.
When mama ain't happy, ain't nobody happy.
