What Child is This?

What child wants.......

  • to Share---Set a timer so that when it beeps the toy can go to someone new for awhile and then back again.
  • to Wash hands---I buy foamy soap to "smash" it.
  • to Go Potty----especially in the middle of play. I am guilty. I bribe with stickers that have "special powers stuck to them". It keeps with the dramatic play they're involved in.
  • to Eat their vegies---Puree them an add to the spaghetti sauce. It's ok to be sly.
    • or tell them it makes their hair grow fast if they like getting hair cuts :)
  • to Be Quiet just because the baby is asleep---Pretend to be quiet so the bear can't hear you in his cave
  • to Take a Nap---Whe we wake up, it's time to do a "special" activity. And keep that promise.
  • To Sit Still--- During storytime, involve them with asking them to find and touch an item on each page, like "I Spy".
Any helpful hints for children? I'm all ears!

Community Cafe Christmas Eve

For the 2nd year, our family cooked for the Community Cafe. It is a place where anyone can come for a free meal provided entirely by donations. Our little city really pulls through for its own, let me tell ya.
Being as our daughter is the executive director, it was unanimously agreed that we should 'do it again on Christmas Eve'.

Must we always have drama??? But of course. My poor neice got a goose egg when she bumped her head into the car door. Glad we didn't need the ER.
The main course was Taco Soup. We had 3 roasters filled to the brim with this family favorite of ours.
Can I just add here a personal observation....?
You know when children are not eating enough when they don't push away a bowl full of vegies. They, in fact, came back for 2nds & 3rds.
This is all that remained after feeding 70 people that evening, not counting those refills I just mentioned. We also served, mixed fruits, tortilla chips & dessert on the side.
I'm gonna thank the following people for donating time, resources & lots of patience to make all this happen.

Irish Blessing to my family & friends

May God grant you many years to live,
For sure he must be knowing.
The earth has angels all too few.
And heaven is overflowing.
